Quick answers to get the most out of Joinat. Can’t find it? Email support@joinat.app.
Getting started
- What is Joinat?
- A local-first events platform for Oman — discover, host, and join grassroots gatherings. The same account can attend one day and host the next.
- How do I find events near me?
- Open Discover, or use Map Search to see events within 50 km of any place. Allow location once and we’ll sort by distance.
- Do I need an account to browse?
- No — browsing is open. You need an account to RSVP, save events, or host.
Hosting events
- How do I host an event?
- Tap “Create event” and follow the steps — cover, basics, where & when, an optional “know before you go”, then publish. It goes live after a quick automated check, usually under 60 seconds.
- Why is my event “pending review”?
- Every event is screened by AI before it’s public. Most clear in under a minute; a few are sent to a human reviewer.
- Can I edit or cancel an event?
- Yes — from My Activities → Hosting or the event’s dashboard. Editing key details re-runs the quick review. Cancelling within 24 hours of the start time costs reputation.
RSVPs & attendance
- What’s the difference between Going and Interested?
- “Going” counts toward capacity and the attendee list; “Interested” is a soft signal that keeps the event on your radar.
- How do I withdraw an RSVP?
- Open the event and choose “Withdraw RSVP”. You’ll be asked to confirm.
- How does attendance work?
- After an event ends, the host can mark who attended for a 7-day window. Attendance affects reputation.
Reputation & tiers
- What is reputation?
- A score that grows as you host well-attended events and show up to ones you join. It unlocks capabilities over time without rigid roles.
- What are the tiers?
- Newcomer → Trusted → Verified Host / Community Leader. Tiers reflect your standing; some, like Verified Host, also need admin verification.
Safety & reporting
- How do I report something?
- Use the flag/report option on any event or profile. Reports are private to you and our moderators.
- Is content moderated?
- Yes — every event is screened before going public, and the community can report anything that slips through.
Account & privacy
- Who can see my activity?
- Your hosted events are public on your profile. The events you’re going to or interested in, and your saved list, live privately in My Activities. Fine-tune what others see in Settings → Privacy.
- How do I make my profile private?
- Settings → Privacy → “Private profile”. Then others see only your name, photo, and tier.
- How do I delete my account?
- Settings → Danger zone → “Delete my account”. It’s permanent: your profile is removed and active events are cancelled.
