On the event page, the button that showed your standing becomes "Withdraw". You will be asked to confirm, because it gives up your place.
If the event was full and had a waitlist, the first person waiting is moved up automatically.
Withdrawing is not held against you. Not turning up without withdrawing is: the host can mark you absent, and that lowers your reputation.
