Privacy Policy

Version 1.0.0 · Last updated June 2026

Joinat is built privacy-first for Oman and the UAE, aligned with Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). This page explains what we collect, why, and the control you have.

What we collect

Your account details (name, email, and the username you choose), the events you host or join, and content you create such as event descriptions. With your explicit permission, we use your approximate location to show events near you — you can decline and still use Joinat.

How we use it

To run the platform: authenticate you, show relevant events, send the notifications you opt into, and keep the community safe through moderation. We do not sell your personal data.

Location

Precise location is used only on the server to compute distances and is never shared with other users — only a city-level label you set is shown publicly. You control this from the location prompt and from Settings.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. Analytics cookies are optional and off until you allow them; you can change your choice anytime from the cookie banner or Settings → Privacy.

Your profile visibility

You decide what other people see. Settings → Privacy lets you make your profile private or hide individual sections (communities, the events you’re going to or interested in, your gallery). These choices are enforced on our servers, not just in the interface.

Your rights

You can edit your profile, change your privacy at any time, and delete your account entirely from Settings → Danger zone. Deletion removes your profile and cancels your active events.
